Dr. Roberts' "Street Talk" program aired every
Sunday in the Bay Area in 2004 and 2005. While the program is no longer on
the air, these excerpts are still available, addressing a wide variety of
natural healthcare topics.
This is the very philosophy of chiropractic: our bodies have the ability and inclination to
heal themselves, and nature assists the healing process as well as our
healthfulness. As time goes on, we learn more about our bodies and
health and
their relationship to our environment. More and more, it seems
it's the man-made substances that create so many modern health issues;
and the man-made solutions create a whole new set of problems, requiring
yet another layer of "treatment."

Chiropractic:
It's Not Only for Back Pain |
New
scientific research supports chiropractic as a drug-free
'preventive maintenance' program, and as a means to improve
immune system response. The result is improved overall
health. Studies also show chiropractic to bolster cognitive
function, productivity and athletic performance. |
Did You Know?... |
Most major
sports figures have a Chiropractor on their staff. They know
from experience the importance of keeping their bodies
adjusted to maintain a healthy nervous system for stamina
and peak performance. |
Tax Deductible
Medical Savings Accounts |
You may be eligible to set up a 100% deductible Health
Savings Account (HSA) that can be used to pay for a
variety of uninsured health care expenses, including
chiropractic care, written prescriptions, dental care and
eyewear. Your spouse's and dependents' health care costs can
also be paid for from these funds, and some plans allow for
unused money to be rolled over to the following year. Check
with your accountant or the
IRS for more details. |

Study
Shows
Pain Shrinks the
Brain |
Recent research shows that chronic
pain can reduce the size of the brain, . The relationship
is clear and disturbing: the longer a person suffers pain, the
more grey matter disappears. The areas of the brain most likely
to be affected control concentration and judgment. The study
goes to to find that painkillers are not the answer. Instead,
steps need to be taken to stop the pain at the source to avoid
long-term neurodegeneration. |
Australian Study:
Chiropractic is More Effective
Against Pain |
A new Australian study confirms
that chiropractic is more effective against pain than medicine
or acupuncture. The study included patients who were treated and
cared for from February 1999 to October 2001. These
patients were randomly assigned either medicine, acupuncture or
chiropractic. Only their respective assigned method was applied
for nine weeks, or until their pain had subsided to an
acceptable level. Findings showed that chiropractic provided the
most consistent, broad-based, long-term relief. |
