Medial nerve
compression results in pain, “burning” and tingling of the hand and/or
arm. Most prevalent in women
between 40-60 years of age, pregnant women, menopausal or those taking
oral contraception or patients with kidney dialysis. These individuals
need more vitamin B-6.
Treatment:
- B-6 (Pyridoxine) 25-50mg three times
per day (except B-6 with Yellow Dye #5);
- Cold/Hot alternating therapy;
- Increase protein ingestion;
- Acupuncture;
- Stretching – flexing wrists and fists
with arms extended for 5 minutes
before beginning work and at all breaks;
- Bromelain - an enzyme that reduces
muscle and tissue inflammation;
- Chiropractic adjustments help reduce a
common cause of carpal tunnel syndrome
when there is a “double-crush” syndrome — nerve irritation in the neck
and wrist.
